Just what we require, an additional Netbook brand name with not anything much to separate from their competition. Trigem USA & its Averatec brand have publicized a new-fangled "Buddy" Netbook. Buddy will be obtainable with a 10.2" dimension only and will be motorized by Intels N270 (1.6GHz) Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB sprinting hard drive and other customary Netbook features. One can also look forward to a comparatively superior keyboard thanks to 10.2" magnitude if the press liberates is anything to go by. The pre-installed Operating System is Windows XP Home edition (with no other Linux alternative). So Netbook world is ever expanding.

You might recall a couple days ago we covered the story from the Sony site that hinted at a new notebook that was on its way. Well more teaser shots have been leaked including a trailer and the image you see above. And all of them match the recent FCC filings that Sony is responsible including a computer with the exact dimensions pictured.

My only wish is that this guy will not only carry a BD drive combo but perhaps a touch screen. When you come to think about it though this might be an elongated Asus Eee PC.

The HP Mini 311 has been getting rave reviews since its launch in September. The device is known for being the first thin and light notebook to come with Nvidia ION graphics. Reviewers claim that in overall performance the Mini 311 is better than most netbooks in the market.

Performance
The HP Mini 311 is undoubtedly one of the best netbooks in the market. People who reviewed the netbook has even compared it to other thin and light machines such as MSI X340 and Asus UL30A.

The device runs on a standard Intel Atom processor, but instead of the integrated Intel graphics it uses a powerful Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics which considerably boosts its video performance. In fact it outperforms every netbook and even some CULV machines in the PCMark05 test.

The Mini 311 is now available in the US market with a starting price of $399.

Verizon Wireless is all set to expand its 3G wireless network with the release of Gateway’s LT2106u netbook. The LT2106u will offer 3G enabled broadband internet connectivity at the rate of $60 per month for 5GB of data transfer.

The Gateway LT2106u is powered by an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. It is equipped with a 10.1 inch LED backlit display with 1024x600 pixels. The netbook will come pre-installed with Windows XP operating system. There are 3 USB ports, a 3-in-1 card reader on board and Ethernet. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and wireless 3G.

Gateway claims that the included batteries will provide up to 6 hours of runtime.

Pricing and availability
The Gateway LT2106u is expected to be available in early October. Prices start at $500.

This mini notebook from Acer is targeted on students, businessmen and for those who have wheels for feet. Acer Aspire One is slightly heavier than an average textbook, weighs just around 2.2lbs and sturdy enough that you can just throw it in your backpack and be on the move. You have a choice of operating system, but you will be pushing its limits if you want Windows Vista with its 1GB Ram and 160GB hard drive. Better to stick with XP Home. Acer Aspire One is powered with the new 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor. Its 6 cell battery gives you about 5 hours of life which is awesome and you have enough storage for digital photos, mp3’s and videos. Acer Aspire One is the best of its kind for broad band access and has in-built webcam and wireless connectivity. It boots up within minutes and though the screen is a tad small its resolution matches that of an average 10.2”. And Acer Aspire One comes in a range of colors too.

Coming to its cons, of course it has some, the left and right mouse buttons are literally to the left and right of the mouse pad which makes maneuvering really awkward and they are a bit stiff. You will have to get used to the smaller keyboard, and its glossy finish attracts fingerprints. The speakers in Acer Aspire One are not loud enough, but you can’t expect a home theater system here. Well these disadvantages can be overlooked when compared to its performance and the price is also purse friendly. You can get one for under $400. If you are in search of a budget netbook that will meet your needs, well your needs need to be modest, then Acer Aspire One is the one.

Acronis known for their backup/recovery software has announced a netbook-specific ‘Acronis True Image Home 2010 Netbook Edition’. The company said that this version is optimized for the unique hardware configuration of netbooks. It is cheaper than the desktop versions and retails for £23.95.

The Acronis True Image Home 2010 allows users to back up data locally to an attached storage device. Users can also backup data online using the optional Acronis online service. The software supports almost all Windows operating systems and processors used in netbooks including Intel’s Atom and VIA’s C7-M chip.

The Skytone Alpha 680 smartbook is famous for being the first convertible netbook based on the Android platform. Other than that there is nothing special about this device. The Alpha 680 doesn’t have very attractive specifications or capabilities.

Actually this tiny device with its 7-inch (800x480) touchscreen display runs on an ARM 11 533 MHz processor with 128MB RAM. The standard storage option is a 1GB flash drive. Optional upgrades include 256MB RAM and 4GB of flash storage. Users who need more storage space can use the SDHC slot for expansion.

The Alpha 680 was announced in May this year. It is expected to hit the market soon.

The Asus Eee PC T91 Tablet netbook was officially announced at the CES. Though the release date is set somewhere in March the guys at bit-tech.net have managed to get their hands on a pre-production Eee PC T91 sample.

According to bi-tech the most notable feature of Eee PC T91 Tablet is the touch-sensitive display with 1024 x 600 native resolution. This 8.9-inch LED-backlit display can rotate up to 180 degrees on a hinge. Not just the screen, but the hinge also rotates by 180 degrees and Asus claims that the Eee PC T91 is the smallest and the slimmest tablet PC up to date when the display screen is folded back on to the keyboard.

The Eee PC T91 is powered by Intel Atom Z520 processor with Intel US15W chipset, 1GB of DDR2 memory and 32GB SSD. It will also include Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11 b/g, 10/100 Ethernet and an integrated webcam. The Eee PC T91 also has options for GPS connectivity, 3G module and DVB-T TV tuner. This tablet netbook runs on Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3 installed. The Eee PC T91 meaures 225x164x25.2-28.4 mm(W x D x H) and weighs less than 1kg with battery attached. Asus has also announced that it is working on another version of this Tablet called T101 with a 10-inch display.

As concluded by bi-tech, “Ultimately, the quality of Asus’ touch screen software is going to determine the fate of this device because, without great software, you’re paying for a feature that might be useful on occasion, but is likely to be a hindrance more often than not. Having not spent time using the software yet, its impossible to gauge the fate of the T91 – keyboard and touch pad issues aside though, the devices build quality is a notch above most other Eee PCs and not too far from the S101. And given the amount of time between now and the expected end of April availability date, we expect the issues we encountered to be resolved. If touch is your thing, this might be worth a look.”

Some reports at the Mozilla support site indicate that Firefox may be the reason behind netbook overheating. When opening pages heavy in multimedia (which usually include Flash elements) Firefox tends to make netbooks hotter than other browsers do.

This is not a problem with larger notebooks because they have better cooling systems with beefier heatpipes and fans capable of moving larger volumes of air. Netbooks with their small frame, however, don’t have full-fledged cooling systems and are more likely to feel the heat.

While the report is based on a study conducted on netbooks running OsX, Windows users have also reported similar overheating problems. And in case you want to test this yourself just try opening a multimedia rich page in different browsers including Firefox and feel the heat. You might remember that a day or two ago we covered a story leaked by Engadget of a mystery netbook from Lenovo. Well said netbook turns out to be a design concept.

In design the Samsung N120 is similar to Asus laptops in many ways. Like its predecessor the N110, the N120 is available in black and white.

Connectivity options include standard 802.11g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 plus EDR. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, SD card reader and VGA. There is no optical drive or expansion slot.

Performance
In performance Samsung N120 is neither better nor worse than other netbooks using the Atom processors. You will be able to perform your daily tasks like web surfing and word processing. The Integrated Intel graphics can’t process high end graphics games. So this netbook isn’t for gamers.

Coby has taken the wraps off their sub $200 line of netbooks and by sub we mean $199. But before you get your hopes built up Coby was quick to announce that its just a "market research project" although they said that they would be coming to the market (no release date of course).

Fujitsu Siemens has let out a Netbook of its individual; the AMILO MINI UI 3520 carries forward the Netbook answer from the manger of Fujitsu Siemens. Noteworthy features of the 3520 comprise variable clip-on envelops that allocate the end user to modify the look of their appliance, incorporated WLAN, and a quiet mode that spins off the fan. It has archetypal laptop specifications, together with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 270 processor, Windows XP Home operating system, an 8.9-inch WSVGA screen for the display, Intel GMA 950 graphics card, 60 or 80GB of hard drive storage space, and 1GB RAM. This Netbook package is obtainable, at an overall price of US$588.
