Check through by Skooba blueprint is a "checkpoint-friendly" notebook handbag intended and hardened to convene upcoming innovative US travel security allowances for X-ray broadcast without having to confiscate the notebook from the bag. Dell has updated its Vostro series with three new laptop PCs, the Vostro 1320 with 13.3 inch display, the Vostro 1520 with 15.4-inch display and the Vostro 1720 with a 17-inch display. The new Vostro series is designed for small and medium business segments. All three laptops are packed with Intel’s 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo processors with up to 8GB RAM, up to 250GB Hard Drive, integrated WiFi connectivity and six-cell batteries.

As usual users can customize their own personal Dell and they can now opt for a 128GB SSD instead of the 250GB hard drive for the new Vostro series. You can include the standard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500MHD or opt for a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS Graphics Card. All three notebooks comes pre-loaded with videoconferencing and webcam softwares. You can also choose a fingerprint reader for additional security or you can opt for an encrypted HDD with Wave Systems software.

All three new Vostro series are now available for purchase, the Vostro 1520 for $569, the Vostro 1320 for $629 and the Vostro 1720 for $649.

Lenovo has unveiled three new IdeaPad notebooks featuring Windows 7. The machines are dubbed Y550P, U150 and U550 and are presently available for customization on Lenovo’s website.

The Y550P has a 15.6 inch display. It is the first Lenovo laptop to be powered by the Core i7 processor. The machine is aimed at multimedia enthusiasts and is equipped with a discrete GPU from Nvidia. It will also feature ‘unique Lenovo tools’ such as SlideNav.

The U150 is a thin and light laptop with an 11.6 inch display. It measures just .53 inches in thickness and weighs under 3 lbs. The U150 will run on an Intel CULV Core 2 Duo processor with up to 8GB of RAM. The U550 is aimed at businesses. It has a 15.6 inch display and sports an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Other features include switchable graphics and VeriFace facial recognition software.

It is fast becoming fact that more and more people are opting for notebooks instead of desktops. A classic example is last months NDP results show that for the first time in history notebooks have outsold desktops. One of the major facts is that they are portable and thanks to the new desktop replacements it means you no longer have to carry a bunch of chords and peripherals when changing your work desk.

So if you are in the market for a desktop replacement ( a notebook over 16 inches) than there are a few you might want to check out.

MULTIMEDIA

If youre thing is multimedia (whether photography or video editing) than three notebooks come to mind. First is the Sony VAIO AW series. With a starting price of just $1700 it is the perfect desktop replacement and thanks to its 18.4 inch screen and Intel Core Duo 2.26GHz processor and not to mention a host of other features it is the perfect companion.

DESKTOP PUBLISHING:

This is a tough decision because I am torn between the HP HDX18 and the Toshiba Qosmio G55-Q802. Both carry stellar features including  NVIDIA GeForce 9600M chips, 3 GB and 4GB RAM (HP and Toshiba respectfully) and 17 inch screens.

GAMING:

As for you gamers there is allot said about AlienWare but unless you are willing to spend in excess of $3Gs than I would suggest you take a look at the Gateway P-6821FX. With a price tag of $1350 the P-6821FX offers bang for your buck. The only draw back is a slightly underpowered chip (Intel 1.67GHz Core 2 Duo processor) and the display is not the best at viewing unless sitting directly in front of the machine (a better way to keep prying eyes out I guess?) But except for those few problems this is one solid gaming desktop replacement.

Fujitsu has announced two new additions to its P-Series of notebooks. The Fujitsu LifeBook P3110 and P3010 are available in beautiful colors with attractive design.

Both notebooks have an 11.6 inch display with 1366x768 pixels. While the P3110 runs on an Intel Pentium SU4100 1.30GHz processor, the P3010 has an AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 1.60GHz processor. Both notebooks come with a DVD Burner. Other common features include WiFi, multi-touch trackpad, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.1, stereo speakers, integrated graphics and spill-resistant full size keyboard. The laptops are available in three colors – Glossy Black, Glossy Silver and Glossy Red Ruby.

The machines weigh 3lbs and measure just an inch in thickness. The included batteries are expected to give 6.7 hours of up time. No information regarding pricing or availability has been announced as yet.

AMD processors are known for delivering high performance, but they aren’t necessarily energy efficient. While they are ideal for powering huge desktop replacement laptops, they just can’t be used in netbooks and ultraportables which are expected to give excellent battery life. Needless to say AMD processors are seldom used in low cost notebooks and netbooks. But now 11 and 12 inch laptops with Intel CULV processors are getting popular and AMD has realized that it just can’t ignore this territory.

The company soon plans to release its next generation of chips aimed at thin and light computers. The new chips are part of AMD’s third-generation Nile platform. They are expected to start shipping in 2010 and 2011. AMD claims that the new chips could give 7 or more hours of battery life in ultraportables. AMD is also making new Bobcat chips for netbooks and ultrathin notebooks.
